Alex Prager

April 22, 2013

I cannot stop staring at Alex Prager’s work. A friend introduced me to this LA-born, bred, and based cinematographer and photographer.

Since Alex is both a director of photographs and films, her work has a very cinematic approach to it. It’s honestly unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. TOTALLY reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock film or something… also very reminiscent of Mercedes Helnwein‘s work (in fact, her brother, Ali, actually composed the music for Alex’s first film, Despair).

I LOVE the amount of detail and tension in her work. You can tell each shot is meticulously calculated and nothing is left to chance. So inspired.

  • O.o sooo amazing! Wow!

  • I love Prager’s Photography passionately! The saturated hues, the bright shades… So inspiring!

  • This is unlike anything I’ve ever seen! I’m so inspired, I can’t even find the words to describe how amazing this is.

  • I LOVE THIS! <3
Both the pictures and the film. I can't compare it to Hitchcock myself, when I haven't seen anything by him. But I can say that I love the overall looks of the film and the way that the foley-sound is senced as the only sound in the film, even though there are music.

Now I kind of wish that my movie for my final examn would look like this, but it does not fit the story :/

  • Beautiful ! ♥

  • I adore Alex Prager’s work! I remember discovering her two/three years ago in a copy of Frankie Magazine. Last year I used her as a visual reference for my year 12 photography folio! Her work is so memorable and distinct!
