I found Foley Gallery via this series by Henry Leutwyler, which was exhibited at the gallery end of 2012. I was browsing through their past exhibitions and found this series, American Girls, by Ilona Swarc.
“‘American Girls’ is a series of portraits of girls in the United States who own American Girl dolls… The American Girl product defines and categorizes American girls… The branding behind the dolls perpetuates domesticity and traditional gender roles. I examine how culture and society conditions gender and how it invents childhood.”
