The sunrise at Mount Haleakala

One of the highlights of our trip to Maui was seeing the sunrise at Mount Haleakala. We had heard about the sunrise tours you could take to the mountain, but then we found out you had to wake up at 2:00 am for a 3:00 am pickup and it’s really cold at the top and we were kind of meh about it after that. But then we read awesome reviews on Yelp and decided to go for it.

The mountain has a 10,000 elevation, so when you look out you actually look down at clouds. It’s the neatest feeling ever.

I love these pictures of us. It was so cold and windy up there; these pictures perfectly describe how we felt. There were so many people there with cameras and tripods set up. A few people were making time lapse videos, which is pretty cool. We took so many pictures, we could probably make a stop motion out of them or something!

Getting up really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be (and I got to sleep for most of the bus ride up the mountain haha). Overall I’m just really glad we decided to do it!¬†Have any of my Maui friends (or travelers) seen the sunrise at Mount Haleakala?
