There is nothing that makes my heart beat faster than a lace dress. A cream lace dress and my heart is doing dances. This dress from Free People is so fun to dress up in, especially if you have a fancy occasion to wear it. (It would be so lovely for a winter soirée!) If not, just dress up in it for the sake of looking pretty! I definitely take every opportunity to wear a fancy dress. And this dress is a cream lace dream. The perfect little fairy dress if you will (unless you’re more into the dark and mysterious, in which case they also have the dress available in black… you can be a fairy noir!). But me? I’m more of a floaty and ethereal kind of gal.
My friend Hana Haley took these photos of me one lovely little San Francisco afternoon. (See the last photo shoot we did together here.) I’ll be so sad when she moves to New York City this coming April. But let’s not dwell on the negative.
I love the raw edges and beaded embellishments of this dress. I paired it with a pair of bold lacey heels I found at Crossroads Trading.
Do you like to get dolled up just for the sake of getting dolled up? It’s kind of a therapy for me. It reminds me of back in the ’50s–and earlier–when people would get dressed up just to go to the grocery store or something. It’s crazy how much the world has changed since then. But then again, I don’t know how much I’d like having the obligation of getting dolled up EVERYDAY. (You better believe there are days I don’t wear makeup or change out of my sweatpants or style my bangs.) That’s the beauty of playing dress up; you only do it when the spirit moves you.
