The weather’s been sooooo incredibly beautiful outside that pool days have been on my mind. And because pool days have been on my mind, of course bathing suits have been on my mind as well. Gotta be lounging by the pool in style, ya know?

I’ve never been a fan of strappy bikinis. I don’t know. I’m not comfortable showing that much skin. That’s just me. Which is why I really love that retro swimsuits are in style. They’re modest but still super stylish. All of Esther William‘s bathing suits have my heart. I really like the classic two-piece in white and red polkadots (it’s actually the swimsuit the model wore in this shoot). The one-pieces are super cute too.

The swim cap fashion of the 1950s was CRAZY! (You HAVE to watch this video.) Wouldn’t it be fun if swim caps came back in style?

This swimsuit was handmade (!) by my friend Esther. (If you’ve never checked out her blog, you should. Her sewing is just something else.)

And now I will leave you with the inevitable question: Are you more of a polkadot or stripes kinda gal?

I find my preference varies with my mood at the moment. Right now I’m feeling like more of a polkadot girl (but it really can change at moment’s notice). I can’t wait to hear what type of girl you think you are!

  • Love these. As a lady with ample bosoms (as my grandma likes to say) it’s nice to see such cool bathing suits.
