Did you guys have a good summer? I did. There were many pool days had, day trips taken, watermelons eaten, projects created and memories made. I just love the summer. I really do. I love hot weather and the sun still shining in the evening. There’s a certain vibe to the summer–a certain energy that makes you want to DO more things.
However, I’m gearing up for the fall/winter. I love soup and oversized sweaters and flannel pajamas and the overall feeling of being cozy inside with a cup of tea and a good book. If you’ve been following my stomach diaries posts, you’ll know I’m mainly eating fruit at the moment. I’m sad that soon I won’t be able to gorge myself on stone fruit since it’s one of the few foods that agrees with my stomach and there isn’t as much fruit in season during the winter. The other day, I bought butternut and pumpkin squash. I’m actually quite freakishly excited to try out different squashes and see how those feel on my body. I’m also really excited to try this recipe after I introduce beets into my diet (let’s just hope they agree with my stomach!). It sounds amazing. It’s the little things, you guys.
On a more somber note, we haven’t gotten much rain at ALL for the past few YEARS in California. It’s quite scary, actually–we’re in an extreme drought. It usually rains only in the winter and I’m hoping for some rain this coming season. I like the rain… when I don’t have to go out in it. 😉 And rain hitting the roof at night is the most soothing sound ever, am I right? Here’s to soup, oversized sweaters, flannel pajamas, cups of tea, good books, winter squash, staying in when it rains and rain hitting the roof at night!
Tell me, what are you looking forward to this fall and winter season? And if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, what are you looking forward to this spring and summer season?
