I haven’t done a Girl’s Got Style post in a long time, which is odd because I love—and spend a good amount of my day—looking at people’s personal styles. I remember when lookbook.nu was really popular, I’d spend hours scrolling through pictures of people’s #ootd’s before #ootd existed as a hashtag.
I’m really inspired by my friend Ariel’s personal style as of late. Ariel is a photography student at Academy of Art University. (You may remember she shot me here.) I was planning on featuring her on my blog sometime soon, but her latest outfit post slayed me to a state of dang she’s good which turned into I-don’t-know-if-I-should-be-mad-at-her-she’s-so-good which turned into maybe-I-won’t-be-mad-at-her-I’ll-just-feature-her-on-the-blog-ASAP. I love Ariel’s clean aesthetic and feel like she’s really defining a strong personal style in both areas of photography and dress. Ariel’s style is much more refined, menswear-inspired, and overall trés chicer than mine, but that’s okay because that’s what personal style is all about! I love her cinematic approach to outfit pictures—I often feel like I’m looking through a campaign for a clothing company, but no, it’s just her outfit of the day. She’s also got a killer Instagram feed, so be sure to check that out as well.
