Hey guys! I wanted to give you a personal and business update on my life. This entire year has zoomed by so quickly. We’re a week into spring, nearly a quarter into the year, I turn 22 sooner than I’d like, spring quarter for school starts next week, and the Drifter Organics Kickstarter launches on the 29th. Phew!
I said I was going to be more retrospective on the blog and I have so many Oh My Drifter blog post ideas jotted down on Google Docs, but I’ve been working on the Kickstarter so much (oh yeah and then there’s schoolwork), I’m exhausted by the time I work on the blog.
In the past, I would have chastised myself for not being as devoted to the blog as I am right now. But I’m kind of over that. Not that I don’t care. I really do. Blogging is one of my favorite things to do ever and I am eternally grateful x 100 that I started this blog as a creative outlet for myself when I was 14. It was probably the best decision I ever made in my life. But I also realize I can’t do everything at the same time perfectly. There are certain times I’ll be juggling so many things at once I’ll have to pick and choose what to focus on at what time. As I get older, I see this more clearly.
SO. The Drifter Organics Kickstarter campaign launches on the 29th. That’s next Tuesday. Are my mom and I ready? As ready as we’ll ever be. I keep looking over the project we have saved in our drafts to make sure we haven’t forgotten anything. Video? Check. Rewards? Check. Compelling copy? Check. Press kit? Check. Infographics? Check. Photographs? Check. Product images? Check. Animated gifs? Check. I’ve done media outreach to try to get press coverage, so hopefully we’ll get some traction there.
What feels funny is I’ve gotten emails from people who have found me through social media as Drifter Organics, not Oh My Drifter. I’ve always been known as a blogger, so I’m excited to see what the future holds. My generation is commonly referred to as the “slash generation,” meaning we hold multiple gigs at the same time to make ends meet. I’ve never identified with one single career, so I have a feeling I’ll be a “slasher” for life. It gets a bit tiresome when trying to explain to my grandma what I do, but as long as I’m doing what I love, I don’t mind.
Enough talk. Get ready for our Kickstarter launch next Tuesday and if you haven’t already, get on our mailing list here to be the first to know when we go live!
