Pin it to win it

When I was in Seattle, I saw a political sign for a candidate running for lieutenant governor. The slogan read, “Yin it to win it” (Yin is his last name) and it’s kind of stuck with me since. When I was editing these pictures, I couldn’t stop thinking of my own pun “pin it to win it,” so pin it to win it is. Cheesy? Yes, but I’m a total cheeseball.

You know how I love color, so I was deeply disappointed when Urban Outfitters only had grey, black and a random cheetah print Herschel backpack in their store. Instead of ordering something more colorful online, I took this opportunity as a challenge to jazz up a simple grey backpack with pins. I never had a pin collection as a child, which I somewhat regret because it would be fun and nostalgic to look back at my old pins, but, at age 22, I’m well on my way to starting up my first pin collection. I have Valley Cruise Press and ban.do to thank for the start of a solid pin game—and my mom to thank for a pretty sweet fishtail braid.

I have to say, my favorite pin is the BFF emoji pin from Valley Cruise Press. I got a set of two: one for my mom and one for me. ARE WE SO TWEE IT MAKES YOU SICK? Valley Cruise Press just launched their Fall 2016 collection too, so some fresh new styles guys.

Around this time of the year, I’m influenced by the back to school season and dress more collegiate, which in my mind, translates to a little preppy. Being originally from the east coast, I feel like I always have prep in me—sometimes it makes its way into my outfits more prominently than usual.
