All Dressed Up With Nowhere to Go

All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go

A few weeks ago, I shot a fashion editorial for SYN Magazine, which you can see here. The concept was combining the classiness of the 1950s/60s with the more is more aesthetic of the 1990s. I’ve been really inspired by the 1990s lately, more so than I’ve ever been before, which, I suppose, is somewhat natural because the first six years of my life were spent in the 1990s. My favorite eras are the 1950s and 1960s and it was super fun to merge the two together. You’ll see the pom pom earrings make an appearance again! (I was able to borrow the earrings for this shoot and took outfit pictures with them while I had them before I had to send ’em back.)

I worked with my favorite makeup artist and hairstylist ever, Shana. We’ve collaborated several times in the past (here, here, and here), but always doing hair and makeup on ME. Before I started regularly taking outfit pictures, my primary focus used to be on being behind the camera, so it was nice to collaborate in that way. Shana specializes in a lot of vintage looks, owns her own business, and is also into holistic health and wellness, so we’re often on the same wavelength.

This was also my first time working with a new stylist — Elise — who happens to be my neighbor! I to thank my Dad for this connection. He was chatting with our neighbor who mentioned her daughter is going to school for advertising, but that she does fashion styling on the side. It’s really really nice to find someone who is interested in the same things as you who lives so close by (almost right next door!). We will definitely be working together in the future!
