I got the film photos back from my trip to Santa Cruz and wanted to share them with you guys. Although I’ve only been to Santa Cruz once and it took me 10 years of living in Northern California to make it there, it is easily one of my favorite places in the world. The relaxed, casual vibe of the beach town totally jived with my soul (totally hippie-ish way of describing it, but you know what I mean). I am so Type A and high-strung on my own, I don’t need to surround myself with a stressful environment, too.
Only the fourth picture was taken in Santa Cruz during an overcast morning, the rest were taken at Capitola Beach. There is a hotel called Capitola Venetian Hotel that has all those colorful apartments. I definitely want to go back in the wintertime to get pictures when the beach isn’t so crowded. If you live close to the beach, these pictures may look boring and typical to you. I’ve never lived super close to a beach before, so I don’t get to see scenes like these very often in real life. People watching on the beach is 100 million times better than normal people-watching because there are so many people—all different ages—doing all sorts of things: swimming, surfing, playing volleyball, building sandcastles, running, lying, cuddling, reading, drawing, and the list goes on. I could sit there all day and not talk to a single soul—just observe the movements and habits of those around me.
