When and how old were you when you started your blog? November of 2008. I was 14 years old.

What kind of camera/lens do you use? Canon 5d mark II with a 50mm f/1.4 lens (mainly for outfit pictures) and a 24-105mm f/4 lens.

Who takes your pictures? My mom, unless otherwise stated.

What software program do you use to edit your photos? Photoshop CC 2015.

How long does it take you to write a blog post? It varies! If I have a specific idea in mind, it can take as little as a couple hours, which is a rare occasion. If I’m working on a more involved post, like an outfit post, a sponsored post or something else that requires photo editing, it can take 15+ hours, often days/weeks to compile.

Are you currently in school?  Yes, I attend Savannah College of Art and Design. I am working toward completing my BFA in Graphic Design. I’m one of those weirdos that loves school and geeks out about good design.

Wait, so if you go to SCAD, how are you living in the Bay Area? I am currently enrolled at SCAD via their eLearning program, which enables me to stay in the San Francisco Bay Area.

You used to be a freelance fashion photographer. Are you still doing that? Yes, I tested with modeling agency models and shot a few campaigns for companies for a few years after launching Drifter & the Gypsy in 2008. I’ve since focused my attention to creatively directing/content creating for my blog and on a freelance basis. I wrote more about my shift in direction here. If you’re in need of any creative direction/content creating services/want my feedback on something, hi! Get in touch with me at hello(at)ohmydrifter(dot)com.

How do you manage your time? I am and always have been a morning person, so I try to get most of my to-do list done in the morning, so I can relax in the afternoon. Also, I get anxious and stressed out very easily, so I hate procrastinating and usually get things done WAY in advance. It’s all a constant work in progress, though!

Is your family supportive of your blog? Yes, they are. I think my dad likes every one of my Instagram pictures!

What’s your family like? Are they also creative? Much of my family is creative, but in different ways. For instance, my mom likes to paint while my dad likes architecture.

Have you always lived in the Bay Area? No, my family and I moved to the Bay Area in July of 2007. Previously we had lived in Connecticut.

Do you make money from blogging? I generate income through banner advertising, brand collaborations and sponsored posts. I work with companies to bring awareness to their brand and to expand their reach. Examples of original content I’ve created for companies are here, here and here. I only blog about items that I would purchase for myself and would recommend to others. I always state if a post has been sponsored. Also, any gifted item is always clearly marked “c/o.”

I’m interested in your creative direction/content creation services. Awesome! Please email me at hello(at)ohmydrifter(dot)com.

I’m interested in collaborating on a sponsored campaign. Yay! I’d love to hear your ideas. Email me at hello(at)ohmydrifter(dot)com.

I’m interested in advertising on your blog. What are your rates? That’s great! Please email me at hello(at)ohmydrifter(dot)com for more details.

How did your blog become so successful? I think starting my blog in 2008 before blogging became trendy allowed me to create and establish solid relationships with other bloggers who–like me–were just starting out. Write about something you are passionate about. It will show through to your readers. Another key is to comment on other blogs & social media. Make your comment genuine. Say something you liked about their post or anything else that relates to the content. You can always reach out to your favorite bloggers via email or social media. I have made many friends that way. That’s how relationships are built!

Is it okay if I post your photos on my blog? Yes, as long as you provide proper credit, plus a link to the original blog post. Please do not use more than three images from a specific post. If you are featuring a DIY/tutorial, please use only one photo, with a link to the original blog post.

How tall are you? I’m 5’3″.

What is your ethnicity? I am half Chinese from my Dad who is 100% Chinese. I am Italian, Scottish, French Canadian and Hungarian from my mom.

What kind of dog is Aubrey? She is a German Shorthaired Pointer.

Your recipes are always gluten-free and vegan. Are you gluten-free and vegan? Oh, labels! I try not to define myself by a label. I am gluten-free and dairy-free by dietary restriction. I occasionally eat eggs, honey, fish and meat but on a day-to-day basis I mainly eat gluten-free and vegan–not on purpose; I just love eating plant-based! I love the challenge of taking mainstream recipes and making them gluten-free, vegan and tasty! Giovanna, natural chef I collaborate with on some recipes, is plant-based too.

Is your family vegan too? Nope, just me. Although they don’t eat much meat. But they’re gluten-free too.

I have a suggestion for your blog! Is it okay if I email you my idea? Of course! You may send me your idea for me to review, although there are no guarantees it will be implemented into my blog. You can reach me at hello(at)ohmydrifter(dot)com.

I sent you an email. How long should I expect to wait for a response? I get answer all my emails in the order they are received/importance. Please be patient! If you haven’t heard from me in the REALLY long time, don’t be afraid to send another email.

Who created your blog design? I used the Atlantic theme from Maiden Sites and had Brandi Bernoskie customize the design.

What is your favorite thing about blogging? The relationships I have cultivated with like-minded individuals from around the world. It also never ceases to amaze me how widespread the blogging community is. Also, the opportunity to touch the lives and sensibilities of young women that I may not have otherwise met is something I truly cherish.
