California Standing Still

Photography

For the past few years, California has been in a serious drought. This past winter, we got a lot of rain—probably more than we’ve gotten these past three years combined! When spring came along, myriads of wildflowers bloomed in Southern California. California (and the rest of the world) stood still, in awe of the miraculous “super bloom” (you could even see it from space!). Thousands flocked to Southern California locations to see the rare bloom in person and capture it with their cameras.

Being that these flowers have been dormant for years and I didn’t know when the next super bloom would occur, I took a weekend trip to Southern California to visit the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. I photographed my long-time Internet (now turned in real life) friend, Melissa.
